Avui \u00e9s l\u2019\u00faltim dia h\u00e0bil de feina a l\u2019oficina, menys d\u2019una setmana abans de marxar definitivament. Sembla que \u00e9s un bon moment per donar un cop d’ull final al meu EVS amb Esplac. L\u20191 d\u2019octubre agafar\u00e9 el tren cap a Col\u00f2nia. Des del 23 d\u2019octubre de l\u2019any passat, he estat un any en aquest estrany i bonic lloc.<\/p>\n

Recordo el dia de la meva arribada i els nervis que tenia. No sabia cap a on anar ni si em vindrien a buscar a l\u2019aeroport. Al final, unes persones molt amables de l\u2019Esplai em van rebre amb un paper amb el meu nom i un s\u00edmbol d’una pota. M\u00e9s endavant vaig saber que era el s\u00edmbol del meu Esplai La Fera.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Els meus nous companys de pis, la gent del meu Esplai i les persones que treballen a l\u2019oficina van ser molt c\u00e0lides i van fer el possible per acollir-me en la vida laboral, social i cultural.<\/strong><\/p>\n

El primer esdeveniment cultural important que vaig viure va ser la Castanyada<\/strong>. Recordo que va ploure com si no hi hagu\u00e9s dem\u00e0 i\u00a0com de preocupats est\u00e0vem per si el nostre gran esdeveniment de l’Esplai no tenia \u00e8xit. Per sort, el cel es va aclarir cap al vespre i tots els\u00a0infants i les fam\u00edlies van venir al nostre esdeveniment per quedar-se al costat del foc, gaudir de les castanyes, rient i bevent. Recordo com d’especial va ser per mi<\/strong> que tanta gent vingu\u00e9s a donar suport i fes de l’esdeveniment una nit per recordar. L’estima i la solidaritat que va mostrar la gent pel nostre treball i esdeveniment em va sorprendre i em va tocar. Aquesta va ser la primera vegada que vaig experimentar la manera \u00fanica de conviv\u00e8ncia i cohesi\u00f3 de la poblaci\u00f3 de Catalunya<\/strong>. Al final, vam passar una nit fant\u00e0stica i vaig gaudir molt. Tinc previst tornar per les dates de la Castanyada.<\/p>\n

Malgrat molts grans moments i experi\u00e8ncies i tots els meus nous amics, els primers mesos van ser for\u00e7a dif\u00edcils. Recordo el dia que vaig decidir venir a Catalunya i vaig pensar com m’equivocava en les meves expectatives i quan vaig menystenir l’enorme repte d’arribar a un nou pa\u00eds. En aquell moment em vaig sentir una mica perduda i vaig trobar molt a faltar casa<\/strong>. El que realment em va ajudar a sortir d’aix\u00f2 va ser una de les dubtes formacions obligat\u00f2ries a les quals vaig haver d’assistir com a volunt\u00e0ria d’EVS. Al novembre, em vaig reunir amb una quarantena de volunt\u00e0ries del SVE a tot Catalunya a la bonica ciutat de Girona<\/strong> per assistir a la “formaci\u00f3 d’arribada<\/strong>“. Per molt que em molest\u00e9s el fet de deixar als meus nous amics, em va sorprendre molt positivament i va ser de molta utilitat aquesta formaci\u00f3. Si mirem enrere com ha estat el meu SVE, aquest ha de ser un dels punts forts de l’any<\/strong>. Con\u00e8ixer tota aquesta gent nova, compartir els nostres sentiments, aprendre sobre qu\u00e8 passava emocionalment amb nosaltres i reflexionar sobre els nostres processos d’aprenentatge va ser una gran eina i suport que vaig gaudir durant tot l’any<\/strong>. Em va ajudar a sortir del meu “xoc” i de la meva “closca” per gaudir plenament de la meva estada. El fet que la formaci\u00f3 es realitz\u00e9s a la bonica Girona va ser un altre dels avantatges m\u00e9s importants de la formaci\u00f3 i em va agradar molt passejar pels carrers antics que van inspirar tants\/es cineastes.<\/p>\n

El que tamb\u00e9 \u00e9s fant\u00e0stic de Catalunya \u00e9s el clima<\/strong>. Mentre jo vaig poder esmorzar a la nostra terrassa a mitjans de novembre, els meus amics i familiars es congelaven amenys de\u00a010 graus. Arribar a casa per Nadal i la nit d’any nou va ser per mi, un enorme “xoc clim\u00e0tic”.<\/p>\n

Va comen\u00e7ar el nou any, vaig continuar amb la meva feina habitual, van venir nous amics i d’alguns em vaig apartar. A finals de gener vaig tenir l’oportunitat d’anar a una formaci\u00f3 internacional a Isl\u00e0ndia<\/strong> amb la meva organitzaci\u00f3 d’origen Die Falken. L’hivern va passar tranquil\u00b7lament sense dificultats. Dos dels meus millors amics em van venir a visitar, fet que va suposar un canvi delici\u00f3s en les activitats del dia a dia. Recordo l’orgull amb el qual mostrava el pa\u00eds i les coses que he fet fins ara.<\/strong><\/p>\n

El seg\u00fcent gran esdeveniment que recordo va ser el de la Monifesta’t 2019<\/strong>. Ja vaig escriure un article m\u00e9s detallat sobre les meves experi\u00e8ncies en un altre article a l’abril que pots llegir aqu\u00ed<\/a><\/strong>. Em va agradar veure com la gran xarxa d’Esplac es va unir per crear un espai d’aprenentatge divertit per a joves voluntaris\/es per millorar el seu treball amb els infants<\/strong>. Hauria desitjat haver assistit a alguns dels tallers \u00fatils, per\u00f2 en canvi vaig estar molt contenta d’ajudar al personal d’Esplac a gestionar l’esdeveniment i a gaudir del concert i la festa a les nits.<\/p>\n

Des del dia 20 fins al 24 de maig, l’Aleksi (EVS\u00a0 finland\u00e8s a Esplac) i jo vam assistir a la formaci\u00f3 intermitja\u00a0prop de M\u00e0laga<\/strong>. El dia 20 tamb\u00e9 era el meu aniversari i vaig haver de passar 6 hores al tren amb l’Aleksi. Ho vam aprofitar al m\u00e0xim i al final va ser divertit. Quan vam arribar a l’estaci\u00f3 de la formaci\u00f3, vaig con\u00e8ixer moltes cares noves i antigues de l’antiga formaci\u00f3. Aquesta vegada \u00e9rem m\u00e9s de 100 persones <\/strong>de tota Espanya. Va ser una bona manera de crear nous contactes i mirar cap endavant en el nostre projecte EVS. Va ser divertit, i un dia fins i tot vam arribar a veure la ciutat de Granada. M’ho vaig passar molt b\u00e9, per\u00f2, per descomptat, no va ser tan fant\u00e0stica com la sorprenent experi\u00e8ncia de la primera formaci\u00f3 a Girona.<\/p>\n

El meu EVS va consistir a passar el meu temps a l’Esplai amb el meu grup Gan\u00e0pies i venir a l’oficina d’Esplac un o dos cops per setmana<\/strong>. A finals de juny va comen\u00e7ar el gran descans d’estiu que em va deixar relativament poques coses per fer, excepte continuar a l’oficina. Vaig decidir omplir les vacances d’estiu d’una altra manera: a finals de juny, Aleksi, el Txema (T\u00e8cnic d’Esplac) i jo vam anar a Berl\u00edn per assistir al F\u00f2rum Jove Europeu de Berl\u00edn<\/strong> per con\u00e8ixer altres voluntaris i activistes de tota Europa. Junts vam intercanviar projectes, experi\u00e8ncies i reflexionar sobre la cohesi\u00f3 social i el seu paper en la superaci\u00f3 de les barreres culturals \/ ling\u00fc\u00edstiques \/ nacionals<\/strong>. Per al meu gust, l’entorn de formaci\u00f3 era una mica massa fantasi\u00f3s i cost\u00f3s, per\u00f2 passar aquest temps amb els altres joves em va ampliar les perspectives i em va ajudar a crear noves amistats internacionals. Al final, va valer la pena assistir-hi i vaig arribar a passar temps a la meva capital i als meus amics d’all\u00e0<\/p>\n

Durant l’estiu tamb\u00e9 vaig viatjar una mica per Catalunya i vaig veure Tarragona, una bella i antiga ciutat.<\/p>\n

Del 17 de juliol al 31 de juliol vaig anar al campament internacional Falkencamp Doebriach<\/strong>. El campament de les nostres organitzacions amigues austr\u00edaques celebrava el seu 70\u00e8 aniversari i el meu Esplai alemany, aix\u00ed com un Esplai d’Esplais Catalans, van venir a celebrar-ho juntament amb moltes altres organitzacions amigues internacionals.<\/p>\n

Despr\u00e9s de les vacances d\u2019estiu a l\u2019oficina, a partir del 15 d\u2019agost vaig tornar a les meves tasques. Com que el curs va comen\u00e7ar a mitjans de setembre, vaig tornar a venir a l’oficina dos cops per setmana i em vaig preparar mentalment per a la meva sortida.<\/p>\n

Ara estic a l’oficina, escric l’article i no s\u00e9 quines coses m\u00e9s us puc dir sobre el meu EVS. Malgrat tots els aspectes destacats que us he dit anteriorment en aquest article, aquest any ha estat extremadament dif\u00edcil per mi. En molts moments va ser massa temptador tornar a la meva zona de confort a Alemania, per\u00f2 sempre hi va haver gent que em va donar suport i va valdre la pena quedar-se.<\/strong> Vaig haver d\u2019afrontar moltes dificultats: emocionals, personals, socials. Gr\u00e0cies a l\u2019EVS, vaig aprendre a afrontar millor aquestes dificultats i em sento m\u00e9s confiada<\/strong> a l\u2019hora de resoldre problemes en el futur. En aquest any tamb\u00e9 he tingut la l\u2019oportunitat de con\u00e8ixer aquest bonic pa\u00eds, que s\u2019ha convertit en una segona casa per a mi. Vaig fer nous amics i amigues i sens dubte em plantejo tornar-hi un dia per viure aqu\u00ed.<\/p>\n

S\u00ed, va ser dif\u00edcil en molts moments per\u00f2 no canviaria aquesta experi\u00e8ncia per res del m\u00f3n<\/strong>. Tot el que em queda per fer \u00e9s animar a totes aquelles persones aventureres i curioses amb \u00e0nimes joves a cercar les vostres pr\u00f2pies experi\u00e8ncies internacionals, fins i tot penseu en fer un ESC (el “nou” SVE). Em sembla que aquesta \u00e9s una de les coses m\u00e9s enriquidores que podeu fer per ampliar l\u2019horitz\u00f3, fer nous amics i amigues i descobrir nous llocs arreu del m\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

Nom\u00e9s vull donar les gr\u00e0cies per totes les persones que m\u2019han donat suport, gr\u00e0cies al meu Esplai, gr\u00e0cies als meus divertits companys de l\u2019oficina. Sense vosaltres, probablement no hauria estat capa\u00e7 de dominar el meu SVE. I gr\u00e0cies Eli (Coordinadora de Projectes Internacionals d’Esplac)!!<\/p>\n

Today is the last working day in the office, less than a week before my final departure. This seems like a good time to have a final look on my EVS with Esplac. On October the 1st I will take the train to Colonia. Counting from the day of my arrival, last year on October the 23rd, I almost spend a whole year in this strange and beautiful place.<\/span><\/p>\n

I remember the day of my arrival and how nervous I was. I didn\u2019t know where to go or whether somebody was to get me from the airport. In the end some nice people of the Esplai receive me with a paper of my name and a paw symbol. Later I would learn it was the symbol of my Esplai La Fera.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

My new roommates, my Esplai and the people who work in the office were very warm and gave their best to include me into the working, social and cultural life.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The first significant cultural event I experienced was the Castanyada. I remember how it was raining like there is no tomorrow and how worried we were the whole event of our Esplai would be unsuccessful. Luckily the sky cleared in the evening and all the kids and families came to our event to stand by the fire, enjoy <\/span>castanyes<\/span><\/i> and drink and laugh. I remember how special it felt to me that so many people came to support us and make the event an evening to remember. How much appreciation and solidarity the people showed for our work and event really surprised and touched me. That was the first of any times I experienced the unique way of togetherness and cohesion of the local people in Catalonia. In the end we had a most delightful night and I enjoyed the event so much I am planning to return for the holidays around the Castanyada.<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite many great experiences and situation and all my new friends the first few months were quite difficult. I remember how I looked back on the day I decided to come to Catalunya and thought how wrong I was in my expectations and how much I underestimated the huge challenge of coming to a new country. In this time I felt a little bit lost and missed home a lot. What really helped me out of this was one of the two obligatory trainings I had to attend as an EVS volunteer. In November I met with about 40 other EVS volunteers across Catalunya in the beautiful city of Girona to attend to the \u201cArrival training\u201d. As much as I was annoyed about leaving my new friends, the more I was surprised about how amazing and helpful the training was for me. Looking back at my EVS this must have been one of the highlights of the year. Meeting all this new people, sharing our feelings, learning about what was emotionally going on with us and reflecting about our learning processes was a great tool and support I benefited from the whole year. It helped me coming out of my shock and my shell to fully enjoy my stay again. The fact that the training took place in beautiful Girona was another major plus of the training and I enjoyed a lot walking through the old streets which inspired so many movie makers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is also great about Catalunya is the weather. While I was able to breakfast on our Terrasse in the middle of November my friends and family were freezing at less than 10 degrees. Coming home for christmas and new years\u2019 eve therefore was a huge climatic shock for me.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The new year started, I continued with my usual work, new friends came and with some I drifted apart. At the end of January I had the opportunity to go to an international meeting in Iceland with my sending Organisation Die Falken, but apart from that the winter passed quiet uneventful. Two of my best friends came to visit me which was a delightful change in the every day business. I remember how very proud proud I was to show them the country and the things I\u2019ve been doing so far.<\/span><\/p>\n

The next big event I remember was the Monifesta\u2019t 2019. I already wrote a more detailed article about my experiences there in April. I liked to see how the huge network of Esplac came together to create a fun learning space for young volunteers and to help them improve their work with children. I wished I could have attended to some of the useful workshops, but instead I was happy to help the staff of Esplac to manage the event and enjoy the concert and party in the nights.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fast forward to May. From the 20th until the 24th Aleksi and me attended to the midterm training near Malaga. It happened to be that the 20th was also my birthday and I had to spend it 6 hours in the train with Aleksi. We made the best of it and in the end it was fun. When we arrived at the training resort I met many new and old faces from the old training. This time we were more than 100 people from all around Spain. It was a nice way of building new contacts and looking back on the EVS so far. It was fun, and on one day we even got to see the city of Granada. I had a great time, but of course it couldn\u2019t catch up the amazing first training experience of Girona.<\/span><\/p>\n

My EVS was composed of my time in the Esplai with my Ganapies group and of coming to the office once or twice a week. At the end of June started the big summer break which left me with relatively few things to do except continuing to go to the office. I decided to fill the summer holidays otherwise:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At the end of June Aleksi, Txema (from Esplac) and me went to Berlin to attend the Young European\u2019s Forum in Berlin to meet other volunteers and activists from across Europe. Together we exchanged projects, experiences and our thoughts on social cohesion and its role in overcoming cultural\/linguistic\/national barriers. For my taste the training environment was a little bit too fancy and expensive but spending this time with the other guys really broadened my perspectives and helped me building new international friendships. In the end it was totally worth attending and I got to spend time in my capital and my friends from there.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I also got to travel around Catalunya for a bit and see Tarragona, a beautiful and ancient city.<\/span><\/p>\n

From July the 17th until the 31st I went to the international Falkencamp Doebriach. The campside of our Austrian sister organisations was celebrating its 70th anniversary and my German Esplai as well as some Catalan Esplais were happy to celebrate it alongside many other international sister organisations.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After the summer holidays of the office until August the 15th I returned to my usual business. As the course only started in the middle of September I went back to coming to the office twice a week and mentally prepare for my departure.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Now I am sitting in the office, writing the article and I don\u2019t know what more things I can tell you about my EVS. Despite all the highlights I told you about earlier in this article this year was an extremely challenging time. In many moments it was too tempting to just return to my comfort zone Germany, but there were always people who supported me and made it worth staying. I had to face many difficulties: emotional, personal, social. Thanks to the EVS I learned to face these difficulties better and I feel more confident in addressing issues in the future. In this year I also had the rare opportunity to learn about this beautiful country, which became like a second home for me. I made new friends and definitely consider coming back here someday to live.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yes it was difficult in many moments, and I wouldn\u2019t trade this experience for anything in the world. All that is left for me to do is to encourage all those who are adventurous, curious young souls to seek out your own international experiences, maybe even consider doing an ESC (the \u201cnew\u201d EVS). It feels to me like this is one of the most enriching things you can do to broaden your horizon, make new friends and discover new places around the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

I just want to say thank you for all the people that supported me, thank you to my Esplai, thank you to my fun colleagues in the office. Without you I would have probably not able to master my EVS. And thank you Eli!!<\/span><\/p>\n
