El mes passat vaig tenir l’oportunitat de participar dels campaments d’estiu finlandesos despr\u00e9s d’un any. No m’ho vaig pensar gaire, ja que havia estat monitor durant gaireb\u00e9 sis anys abans de marxar cap a Barcelona. Tot i aix\u00f2, despr\u00e9s de passar dues setmanes amb la meva fam\u00edlia i amb amic i amigues, em vaig adonar de com el fet d’estar a Esplac m’ha obert la ment i com he millorat com a monitor.<\/p>\n

En primer lloc, \u00e9s impossible comparar l’entitat catalana Esplac i l’entitat finesa Nuoret Kotkat<\/strong> i la forma d’organitzar els seus campaments. Vaig passar aquestes dues setmanes en una illa que \u00e9s (t\u00e8cnicament) propietat de Nuoret Kotkat. El fet de ser una illa permet realitzar activitats d’aigua com, per exemple, incorporar una plataforma en forma d\u00f2nut a la barca de manera que els nens i nenes poden jugar. Tamb\u00e9 vam passar unes quantes tardes estant a la platja tranquil\u00b7lament.<\/p>\n

Planificar les activitats en una illa pot resultar for\u00e7a complicat, sobretot en una illa tan densa com la nostra. Algunes activitats normals, com ara el futbol o el \u201cdodgeball\u201d, s\u00f3n simplement impossibles per manca d’espai. D’altra banda, el bosc dens ofereix un entorn for\u00e7a ideal pels jocs de perseguir, com ara \u201cpolis i cacos\u201d. Sovint, els infants venen amb jocs que volen jugar i el nostre paper \u00e9s supervisar o unir-se. Hi ha aproximadament un monitor\/a per cada set nens.<\/p>\n

La planificaci\u00f3 d\u2019activitats durant campaments amb Nuoret Kotkat t\u00e9 algunes difer\u00e8ncies si ho comparem amb l\u2019espai d\u2019aqu\u00ed<\/strong>. Tot i que coneixem la majoria de nens que assisteixen, cada campament t\u00e9 almenys un parell d’infants\u00a0que venen per primera vegada. No passem tot l’any amb el mateix grup d’infants i cada campament t\u00e9 un formulari d\u2019inscripci\u00f3 independent. \u00c9s per aix\u00f2 que realment no podem planificar res especial dirigit nom\u00e9s a algun grup, perqu\u00e8 simplement no coneixem b\u00e9 el grup.<\/p>\n

Durant aquestes dues setmanes plenes d’activitats, tamb\u00e9 vaig tenir temps per seure amb alguns amics i amigues que no havia vist durant un any. Quan els infants marxaven a dormir, nosaltres continu\u00e0vem desperts i despertes i menj\u00e0vem algunes salsitxes o botifarres que f\u00e8iem amb una petita foguera. Va ser un bon moment per estar amb altres monis que feia temps que no veia. Em va agradar molt compartir les meves experi\u00e8ncies des de la perspectiva d’haver viscut a un altre pa\u00eds,<\/strong> experi\u00e8ncies que potser en un futur poden aportar alguna cosa nova als futurscampaments d’estiu a Finl\u00e0ndia.<\/p>\n

Last month I had the opportunity to participate in the finnish summer camps after exactly one year long break. I didn\u2019t think much of it, as I had been a monitor for nearly six years before my departure to Barcelona. However, after spending two weeks in familiar setting with familiar timetable, surrounded by familiar people, I realised how much this year with Espalc has widened my perspective and improved me as a monitor.
\nFirst of all it\u2019s impossible to compare the catalan Esplac and finnish Nuoret Kotkat<\/strong> and how they organize their camps. I spent these two weeks in an island which is (technically) owned by nuoret kotkat. That means the water gives several opportunities for different actions, such as attaching a big donut-shaped water toy into the boat and cruising around with children holding on to the toy. We also spent quite a few afternoons just chilling at the beach.<\/p>\n

Planning the activities on an island can get quite tricky, especially on an island as dense as ours. Some normal activities, such as football or dodgeball are simply impossible due to lack of space. On the other hand, the dense forest offers quite ideal environment for chasing games, such as cops and robbers. More often than not the kids come up with games they want to play and our role is to supervise or join in. There is approximately one monitor per seven children.<\/p>\n

Planning the activities during camps with nuoret kotkat has some other varieties compared to esplais<\/strong>. Even though we know majority of children attending the camps, every camp has at least a couple new kids. We don\u2019t spend the entire year with the same group of children; every camp has a separate enrollment form. That\u2019s why we really can\u2019t plan anything special aimed for just some group, because put it simply, we don\u2019t know the group that well.<\/p>\n

During those two action packed weeks I also had time to sit down with some friends I hadn\u2019t seen in over a year. When the kids have gone to sleep, we usually stay up and grill some sausages in a little bonfire. This was a great time to truly sit down with other monis. I hadn\u2019t seen in a long time and catch up. It felt really nice to share my experiences from a different country, <\/strong>which might also bring something new to future summer camps in Finland.
